Yeast9: a consensus genome-scale metabolic model for S. cerevisiae curated by the community

Model performance compared to Yeast8. Taken from the original publication: https://doi.org/10.1038/s44320-024-00060-7

Abstract

The latest version of the community-maintained genome-scale metabolic model of yeast, available here. I mainly contributed to update the model with more annotation, and other manual curations, which contributed to the model having great performance compared to its predecessor (Yeast8). It’s wonderful to see this initiative come so far: from back in 2017 when I convinced the previous maintainers of the yeast model (at that point Yeast7) to let my former lab take over the development, to 2019 when we started the community approach (Yeast8) allowing people to make contributions, to now a model actually maintained by the community. It’s a testament of what can the community achieve when they work together towards the better understanding of biology.
